Mohamed Elyounoussi has slammed Bruno Fernandes for ‘complaining’ and ‘whining’ during Manchester United’s shock Champions League defeat against FC Copenhagen.

The United skipper looked to have sealed an unlikely victory for his side, who had been reduced to 10 men in the first half following Marcus Rashford’s sending off, with a penalty 20 minutes from time.
A late collapse, however, saw Erik ten Hag’s men slip to another damaging defeat that leaves their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages in tatters.
Fernandes cut a typically animated and frustrated figure during the latter stages as his side’s hopes of securing a valuable win deteriorated.
The Portugal international was one of several players guilty of haranguing the referee who made several contentious decisions on the night, much to the annoyance of Elyounoussi.
‘I think everyone who has seen United and who has seen him knows that it is a player who is always with the referees complaining and whining,’ he said.
‘I tried to get him away from the referee. I said: “It’s done”. It was nothing more than that. I don’t like players who go forward and try to influence the referees.’
Fernandes, meanwhile, knows Manchester United have a ‘mountain to climb’ if they are to keep their Champions League campaign alive.
‘We have a mountain to climb, so we must climb,’ he told UEFA after the defeat at Parken. We have two games and we have to win those two games.
‘Before tonight, our aim already was to win our remaining three games. We couldn’t win today. We have to win the next two.’
