Mohun Bagan have named their youth team for the tournament with the purpose of developing talents for the first team as the outfit was rechristened from ATK Mohun Bagan to Mohun Bagan Super Giants for the season. The 134-year-old club have entered the 2023-24 season winning the Indian Super League title last summer.

Their fresh season campaign was off to a good start to as Mohun Bagan won their opening Group A match against renowned youth club Pathachakra FC 3-1 at the Naihati Stadium in the outskirts of Kolkata. Sumit Rathi, Ningombam Engson Singh and Loitongbam Taison Singh scored goals in the last win.

Bagan didn’t take much time to kick off the fresh season as Rathi opened the scoring early in the game while Engson soon doubled the lead by the 19th minute. However, just when it looked like the Kolkata giants will run away with the game, Pathachakra got their act together and showed a more disciplined defensive display from that point on.

The third goal came in the added time through Taison before Surajit Ghosh scored the consolation goal for the losing side. Mohun Bagan’s arch-rivals East Bengal are placed in Group B with 12 other clubs as the 39-time champions will kick off their CFL campaign against Madhyamgram’s Rainbow FC.

The Calcutta Football League, Mohun Bagan vs Tollygunge, will be played in Barrackpore on Wednesday (July 12). The match will kick off at 3:30 PM IST (Indian Standard Time). Mohun Bagan vs Tollygunge will be Live Streaming on Insports.tv. The match will be available at a pay-per-view subscription of Rs 10 while the entire of CFL 2023 matches could be subscribed at Rs 199. There is no update on the match being shown Live on TV.
