Moisés Nieto wanted to turn the set of his fashion show–held in the former residence of the Marqués de Cubas–into the star this season. The 19th century palace, located in the center of Madrid and designed by Cubas himself, preserves the neoclassical hallmarks and grandeur of its medallions, frescoes, and plant motifs. Its architecture and rich ornamental elements inspired a collection of 18 looks, all worn by women from the worlds of fashion and art.
Nieto did significant work on shapes and materials, emphasizing crinkled textures, and creating visual and tactile tension by combining wool or heavy crepe with sequins. And he leaned into the color black. “There is a versatility in black that allows it to be combined with other shades, while still staying a long-lasting and useful choice,” he said. It was a lineup of minimalist cuts with a deep attention to detail and a commitment to made-in-Spain materials.
