Money in the Bank 2023: Top WWE Star hell-bent on winning championship contract

But perhaps, no one is more focused on winning the Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match than Becky Lynch. She does have a ton of history in this event but mostly it forced her to come out in empty hand.

For those who don’t know, The Irish Lass-Kicker had been in four separate Women’s Money in the Bank ladder matches and in each of those matches, she was the last person to grab it but she ultimately failed to unhook it.

This year, the Money in the Bank premium live event emanates from the United Kingdom which is home territory for Becky and it makes sense why she’s more than ecstatic to win the scheduled ladder match and go back to the title picture.

Heading into her overall fifth MITB ladder match in WWE, the multi-time women’s champion took time to appear on the recent episode of After the Bell podcast hosted by WWE Raw commentators Corey Graves and Kevin Patrick.

During the conversation, Becky Lynch explained why it’s important for her to win the briefcase, this year. She wanted to win it since the inception of the match but previous failures made this achievement a must-have on her bucket list.

“There’s just something so exciting about that briefcase, and I’ve always wanted to hold it, because anything can happen. Anything can happen. And it’s that element of surprise that you always have.”

Becky Lynch will have the opportunity to make history, this Saturday night when she steps into the Women’s 2023 Money in the Bank Ladder match with Bayley, IYO SKY, Zelina Vega, Zoey Stark, and Trish Stratus.

All these seven participants of the match were featured in a summit during this week’s Raw and it was Becky who stood tall in the end. But reports and betting odds favor IYO SKY to be the winner.

There’s no update on whether Becky has internally been considered by the WWE creative to pull off his dream win on her home turf but she’s expected to enter the championship picture in time for SummerSlam.

During Raw, Becky also met Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley and blasted her for taking the division hostage rather than defending that title, quite often. Below comments from the veteran teased that a feud against Ripley is in the pipeline:

“When I was champion, that title was defended every week in the main event. Now, you only use it to accompany you. You need the title, but the title needs Becky Lynch.”
