In the opening contest of Smackdown, Santos Escobar defeated Mustafa Ali to qualify for the Men’s Money in the Bank 2023 Ladder Match. LA Knight joined commentary for this match but so did Escobar’s allies to keep him away from the ring.

After the match, Escobar and Latino World Order members celebrated in the ring. LWO’s Zelina Vega has already qualified for the Women’s Money in the Bank 2023 ladder match, last week by defeating Lacey Evans.

In the second qualifier from the men’s division, Butch defeated Baron Corbin to qualify. NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams were present at ringside and distracted Corbin as Butch capitalized with a roll-up.

After the match, Corbin punched Trick to ensue a brawl at ringside while Butch qualified as the fifth participant of the Money in the Bank ladder match following LA Knight, Shinsuke Nakamura, Ricochet, and Santos Escobar.

From the women’s side of qualifiers on WWE Smackdown, Bayley defeated “Michin” Mia Yim of The O.C. to make her way to the Women’s Money in the Bank 2023 Ladder Match and become the overall fourth participant.

On the 2019 Money in the Bank PLE, Bayley won the Money in the Bank briefcase and cashed it in on Charlotte Flair on that same night to win her first Smackdown Women’s Championship in a historic moment.

This year Bayley’s chances to reproduce such a moment just got doubled after her DAMAGE CTRL buddy IYO SKY also joined the Money in the Bank fray on Smackdown by defeating Shotzi Blackheart.

Thus, Bayley and SKY have now joined the field which includes Zelina Vega, Becky Lynch, and Zoey Stark. With six match participants confirmed for the women’s division ladder match, only one spot is left to be filled.

Both Men’s and Women’s Money in the Bank ladder matches will take place Saturday, July 1 at the 2023 WWE Money in the Bank premium live event scheduled from the O2 Arena in London, England.
