It was already ported to PC, but now it’s claimed that the Nintendo Switch’s Monster Hunter Rise is jumping to PlayStation and Xbox too.

While PlayStation, Xbox, and PC owners have been able to enjoy Monster Hunter: World since its 2018 launch, Nintendo Switch owners initially had no such alternative.

That was until Monster Hunter Rise came out in 2021, as a Switch console exclusive, and wound up being the best game in the series yet.

The exclusivity didn’t last, though, as a PC port launched almost a year later and now it’s claimed that the game will come to PlayStation and Xbox as well.

If this is accurate, fans won’t even need to wait an especially long time, as the PlayStation and Xbox versions are apparently slated for January 2023.

Monster Hunter Rise will allegedly launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with Microsoft also planning to make it available through Game Pass.

This comes from a report by noted insider Tom Henderson, over at Insider Gaming, who suggests that an official announcement is being saved for The Game Awards next week, although he couldn’t confirm that detail.

If the plan is for these ports to launch in January, then a Game Awards reveal makes sense, considering how many eyeballs the show gets.

Henderson also mentions an expansion launching in spring 2023, but it’s not entirely clear if he’s referring to a brand-new expansion or the Sunbreak expansion that’s already available on Switch and PC.

Currently, Capcom has only confirmed more free updates for 2023 rather than any additional paid expansions.

Porting Monster Hunter Rise to other platforms is perfectly understandable given the game’s success so far, and was probably always a given.

Between Switch and PC, it had sold more than 11 million units by August, making it the second-best selling game in the series. This only puts it behind Monster Hunter: World, which sold more than 21 million copies as of July, making it Capcom’s best-selling game of all time.
