The vehicle subscription company Wagonex has revealed a list of the most expensive popular vehicles to maintain, with one of the best-selling models in the UK taking the top spot.
As the cost-of-living crisis continues to affect the price of motoring, the RAC have reported that 23 percent of drivers say they have delayed getting their vehicle serviced to save money.
Toby Kernon, founder, and CEO of Wagonex, noted that vehicles that are not properly serviced pose a threat to other road users.
He explained: “It’s clear that maintaining a car is a substantial investment, but it’s paramount to ensuring the roads are a safe place for drivers, passengers, and pedestrians alike.
“Ensuring your car is fully up to date with MOTs, servicing and car parts is crucial in ensuring driver safety, but with less drivers being able to afford routine servicing and maintenance, it’s becoming more of a concern.”

According to Wagonex, one of the most expensive family cars to maintain in the UK is the Vauxhall Corsa, with owners typically paying £3,177.50 for repairs such as replenishing oil and fitting new parts like brake pads and a clutch.
The company highlighted that the Nissan Qashqai, which was the UK’s best-selling model during 2022, was also expensive to run, with the same amount of parts costing on average £3,017.34.
However, not all popular family cars are expensive to run, with Wagonex noting that maintaining a Ford Fiesta typically costs around a half the price of the Corsa, at £1,592.44.
Toby continued stating that motorists who are looking to save money on their motoring bills should consider joining a subscription service, in which they pay monthly.
He added: “Our recent research also shows that drivers who own their car outright could be paying more in fees than if they have a car subscription.
“Opting for a subscription instead gives drivers the freedom to choose a brand-new car that suits their lifestyle and needs without the pressures of additional service and maintenance costs of maintaining aging vehicles.”
