The eighth season of PSL is currently being played across four venues (Karachi, Multan, Lahore, and Rawalpindi) with the final slated on March 19 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. In total, 34 matches will be played in a double round-robin format before the play-offs, followed by the final to decide the champion.
The six franchises competing in season 8 are Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators. Qalandars are the defending champions.

Multan Sultans’ young pacer Ihsanullah has been ruling the roost with 14 wickets in six games. Shaheen Afridi picked up five wickets against Lahore Qalandars on Sunday (February 26) to climb up the wicket-takers table and is now four wickets behind young Ihsanullah.
Ihsanullah’s teammate Abbas Afridi, who has established himself as the fifth bowler of the franchise, is joint-second with 10 wickets to his name in six games. Leg spinner Usama Mir has nine wickets to his name as the Multan Sultans’ trio has taken 33 wickets in six games.
The bowling trio, along with in-form top-order batters, is the reason why Multan Sultans are also sitting top of the table with eight points.

Among other franchises, Quetta Gladiators Mohammad Hasnain has been the sole consistent player from the team with eight wickets to his name in five games. That has helped little to change the fortune of Quetta, who are dead last with four losses in five games.
