Motherwell have won their second game in a row under caretaker manager Stuart Kettlewell with a victory over Hearts.

The Steelmen move five points clear of the relegation playoff spot with the 2-0 win at Fir Park on Sunday that follows the 2-1 midweek win over St Mirren which was their first league win in 12 games.

Kettlewell was placed in charge on a temporary basis as the club hold talks with potential candidates including Ian Holloway and Grant McCann.

But victory over third placed Hearts will have surely moved his name up the pecking order when it comes to future negotiations after securing back-to-back wins.

It was also their sixth clean sheet of the season as they produces an impressive team performance to see off the Edinburgh side.

Jonathan Obika scored five minutes before the end of the first half and Blair Spittal secured the win when he doubled the lead just a minute into the second half.

Kevin van Veen was also on top form as Motherwell took control of the second-half although both sides had chances with Shankland and Grant coming close for the visitors.

Hearts remain in third but missed the opportunity to move eight points clear with city rivals Hibernian now in fourth place.
