TL;DR

  • The launch date of the Motorola Razr 2023 has leaked.
  • The phone is expected to be one of the two foldables Motorola is planning this year.
  • It could launch well ahead of the competing Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Motorola is expected to launch two new foldable phones this year. One of them is allegedly codenamed Juno, while the other is called Venus. That’s according to tipster Evan Blass who also happened to share renders of the former, aka Juno, just a few days back. Now, Blass has leaked the possible launch date of the phone.

Believed to be the Motorola Razr 2023, the handset should launch on June 1, 2023, as per Blass. The coincidence of a device codenamed Juno launching in June is not lost on us. It’s probably what Motorola intended from the beginning.

The new Razr is expected to get a huge cover display covering the entire outer panel. It still features the same flattened clamshell design as its predecessor. However, images leaked by Blass show a redesigned UI for the outer display.

Meanwhile, Samsung isn’t expected to launch its clamshell competitor, the Galaxy Z Flip 5, anytime before August. That’s usually when the Korean tech giant holds its second Unpacked event. But even though Motorola might beat Samsung to the punch, we don’t expect the Razr 2023 to launch globally anytime soon. The 2022 Moto Razr only made it to select European countries in October last year, almost three months into its China release.

Meanwhile, there is no word on Motorola’s alleged second foldable phone, Venus. Will the Razr line finally add a more traditional Galaxy Z Fold-like model? We’ll have to wait and see.
