MOUNTAIN VIEW —Bubb Elementary School was closed on Thursday morning after Mountain View police said there was a “potential threat” at the school.

Authorities said they were contacted by Mountain View Whisman School District officials about a “threat targeting Bubb Elementary School students and staff” on Thursday, according to a news release.

Police began an investigation and school administrators decided to close the school “out of an abundance of caution.” Police presence has been increased both at the school and other Mountain View schools. Authorities didn’t specify about what the threat was.

There is no threat to public safety and police are continuing to investigate the threat, authorities said.

Requests for comment from Bubb Elementary School and Mountain View police weren’t immediately returned.
