Research by Anglian Home Improvements, which polled 1,000 people, found that oven cleaning is the most hated household job.

Luckily, fans of cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch, whose full name is Sophie Hinchliffe, have shared their simple hack for cleaning ovens.

The cleaning and lifestyle influencer has more than 4.6 million followers on Instagram and often shares her garden and home tips online.

Fans of hers have taken to social media in recent years to share their own hacks for solving common household problems.

On one such group, Sylvia Innes posted: “I need help to clean my oven, tips please. I remember seeing something about a dishwasher tablet but I can’t find it. Thank you in advance.”

The post was inundated with responses but the most suggested solution was to use a dishwasher tablet.

Lynda Morgan said: “Rub a moist dishwasher tablet on the glass door. It will come up as good as new. No need to use expensive ones.”

George Saunders commented: “Dishwasher tablet on a sponge. You must wear gloves. Wet the sponge and just rub. It’s safe for a glass door.”

Tracey Hammond replied: “Clean the oven door and floor with a damp dishwasher tablet. Just scrub over then rinse off with a wet cloth to remove all the residue. Pop the racks in a garden waste bin or just out on the lawn overnight and then wipe off with a damp cloth.”

Claude Smith wrote: “I used a wet dishwasher tablet today. It actually worked.”

Most homes with a dishwasher will have dishwasher tablets but those homes without the appliance can buy the tablets relatively affordably from most local supermarkets or online.

JUST ESSENTIALS by Asda 30 Dishwasher Tablets cost £1.34 which equates to 4.5p per tablet.

Sainsbury’s All In One Dishwasher Tablets cost £3 for 30 which works out at 10p per tablet.

Other suggestions from Mrs Hinch fans included using tin foil, Oven Pride, Fairy Power Spray, vinegar, lemon juice, baking soda and wire wool.

Tamia Gray Nunn said: “If you roll up a ball of aluminium foil and scrub with baking soda and vinegar it comes off pretty easily.”

Geraldine Mc Kenna suggested: “Oven Pride. Clean your racks, leave them soaking overnight in a bag. They come out gleaming.”

Anne Walkingshaw commented: “Fairy Power spray is good.” Debbie Hinks replied: “Oven Pride – it’s the best.”

Rosemarie John wrote: “Lemon juice and bicarbonate of soda.”

Kate Harvey Crawford posted: “I cleaned a customer’s oven today with degreaser and wire wool. You really don’t need to buy oven cleaner.

“The wire racks are so easy to clean with wire wool. It just takes a little bit of effort. Burnt-on carbon can be tough if it’s been there a while but keep at it. You’ll be pleased with your effort. Good luck.”
