Reports of Jadeja’s strained relation with Dhoni and CSK had made headlines ever since he stepped down from CSK captaincy midway through the IPL 2022 season. It was reported that Dhoni’s comment on Jadeja being not able to handle the captaincy pressure had not gone well with the star all-rounder.

Jadeja had left the CSK camp back then citing rib injury, however, speculations were rife that he was extremely unhappy with the team’s management. Jadeja and CSK had also unfollowed each other from their social media handles.
However, Jadeja was retained by CSK amid a lot of speculation. “Everything is fine,” the southpaw tweeted with a picture of him bowing to Dhoni after CSK made the announcement.
“I don’t think Jaddu was upset with Mahi bhai at all. It was just that he was sad because the team wasn’t doing great. Everyone’s performances that year were not coming up to the mark,” Rayudu said in an video posted by BehindwoodsTV.
Rayudu, who was part of the CSK team which won their fifth IPL title this year, added that Dhoni is the one who has made Jadeja a successful cricketer. He said he wishes Dhoni to lead CSK in IPL 2024 as well.
“He (Dhoni) has put this team and has made Jaddu what he is today. He has nurtured him for what, 10-12 years. So he would naturally be happy that the product that he made has won the final for CSK after whatever happened last year,” Rayudu said about Jadeja who hit a last ball boundary against Gujarat Titans (GT) to win the IPL 2023 for CSK.
“That’s a testament to how CSK is that it keeps its family together. I hope Mahi bhai leads the team in the next season. Till the time he wants to play, he should lead the team,” Rayudu concluded.
