With the rise in coronavirus cases, Mt. San Jacinto College is shifting most classes to a virtual format for the rest of January, effective immediately.
Officials announced the move Thursday, Jan. 6, out of concern for student and employee safety. The school’s tentative plan is to return to in-person classes on its campuses in San Jacinto, Menifee, Temecula and Banning beginning Tuesday, Feb. 1.
Out of an abundance of caution due to rising COVID-19 cases, MSJC will transition most in-person classes online for the month of January. Additionally, as of now, MSJC indoor events & activities will be postponed, modified, or cancelled.

“This is not a far departure from what was already scheduled for spring,” spokesperson Karin Marriott said.
Most classes were already scheduled to be online, with few exceptions such as nursing and allied health, athletics and automotive classes, which will follow safety protocols. All indoor events and activities will be postponed, modified or canceled. Classes moving online will be held live on the same date and time as scheduled.
The spring semester is still set to start Tuesday, Jan. 18.
The college will provide bookstore service on its San Jacinto and Menifee Valley campuses. Free Wi-Fi is available at all campus student parking lots, open daily Monday through Friday. Chromebook loans are available to students who need them. Coronavirus testing sites at the San Jacinto, Menifee Valley and Temecula Valley campuses are open for students and staff.
