Maneskin aren’t too bothered about Abba star Anni-Frid Lyngstad admitting she’s no longer a fan of Eurovision.

The Italian rock band won the European song contest earlier this year with their hit single Zitti e buoni.

Fronted by Damiano David, Maneskin have become one of the most popular Eurovision contestants in recent years, with their success extending beyond the competition and turning the band into bonafide rockers.

However, Abba singer Anna-Frid recently said she feels the competition has changed since her legendary pop group were propelled to superstardom on Eurovision in 1974.

Reacting to the singer’s comments, Damiano told Metro.co.uk at the MTV EMAs 2021 in Budapest, Hungary: ‘I think that everything changes with time so we have to deal with it – and we like it actually.’

Bass player Victoria De Angelis added: ‘I think that when we went it was amazing.’

Maneskin are enjoying global fame and toured with none other than the Rolling Stones earlier this month in the US.

They seemed to get on brilliantly with frontman Mick Jagger, who shared photos of the two bands hanging out with each other.

Recalling their time together, Damiano said: ‘We just spoke generally and he was very glad that a young rock band was making it so big. That was very important to us, that was so nice.’

Maneskin delivered a show-stopping performance at the awards show with their single Mammamia, and they had every reason to celebrate after winning best rock.

Damiano said in his speech: ‘We also wanna say that people usually told us we are not gonna make it with our music, well, I guess you were wrong.’
