Daisy Jones & the Six
Where to watch: Amazon Prime Video
Let’s start off this week with a trip back to the 70s!

Daisy Jones & the Six stars Riley Keough (from Logan Lucky and Zola) as Daisy Jones. She’s a woman who in the 1960s decided she wanted to be a rock star, and got her chance when she encountered a band led by Billy Dunne (played by Sam Claflin from Enola Holmes and Peaky Blinders). The two clicked, and their band ends up taking the world by storm. Similar to groups like Fleetwood Mac or Heart, the show depicts the turbulent emotions felt by all members of the band and how it led to their breakup. Daisy Jones & the Six is framed like a documentary, looking back at the band’s legacy and its destruction. This show also stars Camille Morrone (from Death Wish), Suki Waterhouse (from Assassination Nation) and Timothy Olyphant (from Deadwood).

Chris Rock: Selective Outrage
Where to watch: Netflix
Next up, a stand-up comedy special we’ve been waiting nearly one whole year for!
Chris Rock: Selective Outrage is the first stand-up special where Chris Rock has talked about the infamous Oscars slap (and he’s clearly not over it). It’s also his first special in five years, and he talks about starring in a horror film, the hypocrisy of being a Michael Jackson fan, and his love of Doja Cat. Interestingly, this special was also a groundbreaking piece of history because it was the first stand-up comedy special ever livestreamed on a major streaming platform. While Chris Rock performed the special in front of an audience, it was streamed live for the world (at least those with a Netflix account) to watch.

He sees every high, every low, and every single other thing that could happen if he chose to pursue a relationship with that person. After getting into a lot of quick flings and leaving them even quicker, he meets one woman (played by Silvia Alonso from Lord, Give Me Patience) that he’s genuinely interested in. Will he give in and see what the future may hold for them, or remain blind to his romantic future?

Creed III
Where to watch: Cinemas
Last but not least, the return of Adonis Creed!
In Creed III Michael B. Jordan (from Black Panther and the Wire) actually steps behind the camera for the first time in his life. He directs this film showing Creed at a career highlight, retiring after becoming the world champ. Living a happy life with his partner (played by Tessa Thompson from Thor: Ragnarok and Westworld), he one day encounters an old friend he hasn’t seen in 18 years. This friend (played by Johnathan Majors from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Devotion) wanted to grow up to be an accomplished boxer, but lost that chance when we went to jail. Creed gives him another chance, but that chance soon finds them in opposition to each other and heading back into the ring. Creed III has already smashed its box office expectations, making this a hit! This film also stars Wood Harris (also from the Wire), Florian Munteanu (from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), and Phylicia Rashad (from the Cosby Show).
