Let’s start off this week with another murder mystery!
Adam Sandler (from Happy Gilmore and Uncut Gems) and Jennifer Aniston (from Horrible Bosses and the Morning Show) are back in Murder Mystery 2! The couple have become private detectives following the first film, which hasn’t been easy on their marriage. They’re invited to attend the wedding of an incredibly wealthy friend (played by Adeel Akhtar from Murdered by My Father), but shortly after they arrive their friend is kidnapped. Even worse, one of his bodyguards is murdered. The two have to investigate once again to save their friend, and hopefully save their marriage. This film also stars Mark Strong (from Shazam!), Mélanie Laurent (from Inglorious Basterds), and Jodie-Turner Smith (from After Yang).

Rye Lane

Now, let’s take a look at a romcom from across the pond!
Rye Lane is a romantic comedy starring Vivian Oparah (from Class) and David Jonsson (from Industry). The two of them are young people who meet in a gender neutral bathroom at an art show when she finds him crying about his recent break-up. She also went through a break-up fairly recently, and the two bond about their shared experiences. The two spend a night together wandering through South London, surprisingly encountering each other’s ex and growing much closer. This film also stars Munya Chawawa (from Prince Andrew: The Musical), Simon Manyonda (from Northern Comfort) and Omari Douglas (from It’s a Sin).

The Power

Next up, it’s time for some feminist sci-fi!
The Power is a new show based on the book of the same name. It’s about a unique biological change that happens all over the world where teenage girls all of a sudden begin to develop the power of electricity. The show stars Auli’i Cravalho (from Moana) as the daughter of the Mayor of Seattle (played by Toni Colette from Hereditary). The daughter struggles with her powers, as her mother realizes that this means a significant change of power is coming in the next generation. The show also takes a global approach to its story, showing the stories of similar teens in the South, the United Kingdom, and Nigeria. This show also stars John Leguizamo (from the Menu), Toheeb Jimoh (from Ted Lasso), and Daniela Vega (from a Fantastic Woman).

Unstable

Now, let’s take a look at a father and son sitcom!
Unstable is a new show created by and starring Rob Lowe (from Parks and Recreation) and John Owen Lowe (from Holiday in the Wild). The elder Lowe plays Ellis Dragon, a famous biotech CEO who has been unravelling mentally recently due to the death of his wife. His company’s CFO (played by Sian Clifford from Fleabag), convinces his son to fly out to Los Angeles to visit him and help him move forward. He doesn’t want to stay long at first, but the bond between father and son (shaky as it might be) might just persevere.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

Next up, something for all the fans of D&D!
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is a new film starring an ensemble cast led by Chris Pine (from Star Trek and Wonder Woman) and Michelle Rodriguez (from Lost and the Fast and Furious films). He plays a bard, she plays a barbarian, and the two of them end up in prison after a failed heist. Years later they break out and learn that they were betrayed by a Red Wizard (played by Daisy Head from Harlots). Building themselves a new team, the gang plans another heist to stop the Red Wizard from forming an undead army. This film also stars Sophia Lillis (from It), Regé-Jean Page (from Bridgerton), and Hugh Grant (from Paddington 2).
