Next up, the film that won the Palme d’Or this year!
Triangle of Sadness is the latest film from Ruben Östlund, a Swedish filmmaker who previously won the Cannes Film Festival’s highest honour in 2017 for the Square. His latest film focuses on the role fashion has in society and class. It’s about two European models (played by Harris Dickinson from the King’s Man and Charlbi Dean from Black Lightning) who are invited onto a luxury cruise. They meet a strange cast of the upper-class elite, including a Russian oligarch, a Marxist captain, and an elderly arms dealer. Eventually the cruise crashes, and several people wash up shore. This is when the the tide begins to turn, because the wealthy don’t know how to make a fire or catch a fish, but the lower class staff on the cruise ship do. This film also stars Woody Harrelson (from Venom: Let There Be Carnage), Iris Berben (from Eddie the Eagle), and Zlatko Burić (from Pusher).
