The huge coronation in London this year will mean nothing for the seven finalists of the Mx Burlesque WA 2023 State Final as they eagerly await to find out who will wear the crown at the end of the night at Astor Theatre Perth on June 24.

Delza Skye (Oakford), Gigi Love (Caversham), Kitty Litteur (Leederville), Liberty Genre (Fremantle), Lola Moore (Ocean Reef), Minxy Milva (Nollamara) and Pixie Lust (Rockingham) are all throwing their sparkles into the ring and battling it out for crown and title.

Mx Burlesque WA producer Melanie Piantoni, aka A’dora Derriere, says she is looking forward to another huge year of the competition held at the Mt Lawley venue, following last year’s crowning of winner Matthew Pope.

“The finalists are so unique in their own style, the WA competition will feature some seriously sexy acts, while others bring comedy to the stage and others skill and their own interpretation of burlesque,” she shares.

“This show is set to impress the audiences and judges.”

Hosted by drag artist Alexas Armstrong, who doubles as Karl Kayoss in their boylesque identity, the 18-plus event will be judged on three categories — red carpet parade, striptease and unique — with the aim to uphold the rich history of the art of striptease while advancing modern performance art in the neo-burlesque revival.

“Our goal is to raise the professional standard within the burlesque industry and provide a platform for performers to create their best work,” Piantoni adds.

“The core values of the burlesque revival are emboldened with empowerment and feminism. Mx Burlesque Australia seeks to uphold an all-inclusive competition and encourages diversity, body positivity and aligns itself with the LGBTQI+ community.”

The winner will receive the Mx/Mr/Miss Burlesque WA title and more than $1000 cash and sponsored prizes, as well as a crown and sash.

Mx Burlesque WA 2023 State Final is at Astor Theatre Perth, June 24.
