The pair starred for their national team on Sunday evening as Ukraine came from behind to seal a 3-1 win over France in the quarter final of the Under-21 European Championship.
Lyon midfielder Rayan Cherki had given France the lead but Sudakov pulled Ukraine level from the penalty spot before Mudryk provided a brilliant assist for Sudakov to score his second of the game. Artem Bondarenko then struck in the closing stages of seal Ukraine’s win.
Sudakov, who is now the tournament’s top scorer with three goals in four games, is currently playing for Shakhtar Donetsk but has already been tipped to make the move to one of Europe’s elite clubs.
And Mudryk is hoping that the 20-year-old links up with him at Chelsea.
Speaking about his assist to Sudakov after Ukraine beat France, Mudryk said: ‘Usually it’s the opposite – he gives it to me and I score. And now he scored a penalty, and I thought – I need to score more.
‘I do everything for my friend, I hope he just keeps scoring. I’m just promoting him!’
Asked if he would like to see Sudakov at Chelsea, Mudryk replied: ‘That would be great.’
Ukraine will now play Spain in their semi final on Wednesday, while England face Israel for the other spot in the final.
‘We are all great. Today we played better than the French. We rejoice, but only today,’ Mudryk said.
‘Our goal is to win the tournament. Step by step. Today we rejoice, and tomorrow all thoughts are about the Spaniards.
‘We will definitely re-watch the group round match against Spain. It will be like a blank slate for us, on which everything is written. And from this we will determine how it will be better for us to play against them.’
