Nahyan bin Zayed chairs regular board meeting of Abu Dhabi Sports Council

ABU DHABI, 21st June, 2023 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, commended the support provided by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, for the country’s sport sector.
H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed made the statement while chairing the regular meeting of the council’s board of directors, held today in the presence of Mohamed Thani Al Rumaithi, Vice Chairman of the Council, members of the board of directors, and Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Council.
During the meeting, Sheikh Nahyan hailed the council’s achievements in 2022, such as the Middle East and North Africa Stevie Award and other industry awards, emphasising the need of maintaining and improving the quality of community sporting events.
Additionally, he was informed of the key performance indicators for the council and the reports from other clubs in Abu Dhabi, and instructed them to sign KPI agreements so they could monitor their goals and metrics.
Every club in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi would have a social affairs committee, it was decided. A club board member would serve as the chairman of this committee, which would become a part of the system’s central governing committees.
The committee would urge clubs to practice social responsibility, promote physical activity among members, players’ families, and the community, and set up volunteer squads. These changes would raise living standards and enhance the experience of spectators at sporting events. He underlined the necessity of building databases on club members, players, and former and present employees as well as improving communication to entice them to attend games.

The meeting also discussed methods to open up clubs to everyone who wants to engage in sports, especially People of Determination, who should have access to welcoming environments for all sports.
