Kelowna RCMP report that the couple was driving near the city’s Apple Bowl Stadium at around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday evening when an “unknown, intoxicated and unclothed man…opened the unlocked trunk hatch, jumped in and told them to drive.”
This couple initially did as they were told and drove the vehicle about a block to the intersection of Harvey and Burtch before unbuckling and ditching. At that point, the inebriated carjacker slid his naked body up to the front, “jumped into the driver’s seat and fled in their vehicle,” according to police.
RCMP located the vehicle undamaged some 45 minutes later, and also found the naked man nearby after he’d left the car, fled through a yard, and unsuccessfully attempted to steal another occupied vehicle.

“Thanks to the quick actions of the Kelowna RCMP frontline officers and vigilant citizens, a quick arrest was made without any injuries,” said Const. Mike Della-Paolera of the Kelowna RCMP media unit.
Luckily, the couple’s vehicle was returned to them unharmed, without any signs of damage inside or out. Still, they might want to give any interior surfaces that may have been grazed by a bare buttock a good wipe down just to be safe.
Police continue to investigate and have yet to charge the suspect.
