It’s Tokyo meets NYC.
On Tuesday, Nanamica and Awake NY officially unveiled their exclusive capsule collection of apparel and accessories. The 14-piece range offers casual wardrobe staples like pullover hoodies, co-branded tees, long-sleeve oxford shirts, nylon shoulder bags, and sweatpants. However, the standout items are the plaid-patterned dock jacket and cargo pants made from Nanamica’s signature ALPHADRY—a quick-drying textile that was originally made for outdoor climbing. The two-piece suit can be worn with a matching plaid bucket hat with an embroidered logo.
“The pieces truly are a marriage of Japan and New York City,” Angelo Baque, founder and creative director of Awake NY, said in a press release. “Working with Nanamica’s beloved silhouettes, we incorporated our design language and added patterns, specifically the plaid. These pieces can easily be worn on the streets of Tokyo or on Museum Mile here in New York—they’re versatile and functional, essential qualities for any city inhabitant.”
The Nanamica x Awake NY capsule will be available on Sept. 16 at Nanamica locations and its online shop, with prices ranging from $115 to $600. The brands will also host a launch party at Nanamica’s SoHo location on Sept. 15.
