Bexley or Nantwich will be crowned ECB National Club champions on Saturday when they meet at Lord’s, the Home of Cricket.

Both sides won six matches to book their place in the final, with Bexley beating the likes of Potterne, Brentwood and Wanstead & Snaresbrook, and Nantwich overcoming St Asaph, Kimberley Institute and Wallasey.

Bexley, based in south-east London, are making their first appearance in the National Club Championship final, while Cheshire side Nantwich reached this stage in 2019, only to lose to Swardeston.

Bexley, Kent Premier League champions in 2021, recovered from a slow start to the 2022 season to finish third with 12 wins from 18 matches.

Nantwich, who have won the Cheshire County Cricket League five times since 2010, finished fourth this season and won the county cup last weekend.

Bexley, captained by former Kent spinner Adam Riley, have won 13 of their last 14 games in all competitions. Opener Aiden Griggs has led the way with the bat, scoring seven fifties and two hundreds.

Freddie Foster, Shaun Evans and ex-Kent all-rounder Adam Ball have all taken more than 30 wickets across the summer.

For Nantwich, Marcus Stables has churned out more than 1,400 runs at an average of 53 in his debut season for the club, while Oliver Griffiths and Jimmy Warrington have been prolific with the ball.

Both clubs have links to professional cricket; Bexley’s Ollie Robinson and Jas Singh have contracts with Kent, and wicketkeeper-batter Robinson will miss the National Club Championship final to represent the Spitfires in their Royal London One-Day Cup final against Lancashire at Trent Bridge.

Nantwich, meanwhile, were once home to England and Lancashire star Liam Livingstone, who famously scored 350 off 138 deliveries for the club in a cup game.
