National League fixtures will go ahead during the week leading up to the Queen’s funeral on Monday September 19 after the league confirmed a start date for competitive matches to return.

All Premier League, EFL, and National League football was postponed over the weekend as a mark of respect following Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s passing on Thursday September 8 at the age of 96.

Questions remain over whether Premier League and EFL football will restart prior to the Queen’s scheduled funeral, but a statement published by the National League on Sunday stated when fans can expect to be back in stadiums.

‘The League can confirm that further to the announcement that the funeral for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be held on Monday 19 September, National League fixtures for week commencing Monday 12 September will go ahead as scheduled.

‘Clubs, for all fixtures up until the funeral, will observe a one-minute silence prior to the game and will wear black armbands as a mark of respect to Her Majesty.’

Cricket, rugby, and horse racing events all went ahead this weekend after a days suspension following the Queen’s passing.

English and Scottish teams competing in European competitions will play during the upcoming week but details regarding the day and time of some matches is still being discussed.

Rangers confirmed that their Champions League tie with Napoli – originally scheduled for Tuesday – has been delayed by 24 hours until Wednesday due to policing issues.
