Take the new Charlotte Tilbury Matte Beauty Blush Wands. They’re just as delicate as their Light Wand counterparts, offering a sheer haze of colour over cheeks that dries to more of a gauzy, skin-like satin finish that’s super natural.

And, Maybelline has jumped on board to with the release of its Super Stay 24H Hybrid Powder Foundation which combines the formula of a pressed powder with the coverage of a foundation. It’s silky to touch and blend and gives a soft-focused finish, especially when applied to oilier skin. Plus the full coverage and staying power has got TikTok very excited.

But dry-skinned girls are divided since mattes on sapped skin can be a disaster combo. However, makeup artist Adeola Gboyega told GLAMOUR it can work for different skin types, you just have to be tactical about how you apply it. “You can use it as more of a setting powder on top of a traditional foundation, and just apply it around the T-zone and where you get a little shiny,” she says. Also, she notes the texture gets better and better the more it melds with the natural oils in your skin. Dry skinned TikToker @parissax shared how she paired it with lots of nourishing skin prep and the backward contour hack favoured by Hailey Bieber.

Elsewhere, Gucci Beauty are just dropping the Éternité de Beauté foundation (a full coverage affair with a luminous and comfortable matte finish), while RiRi debuted her new Fenty Icon Velvet Liquid Lipstick in the shade, MVP (a bullet-proof matte with megawatt pigment), while performing in front of millions of fans at the Super Bowl.

And leaning into the nat-matte, or natural matte trend, Chanel updated its Rouge Allure Velvet Matte Lip Color this year with a luminous matte version, complete with ultra-fine pearly pigments, jojoba oil and shea butter, to wear like a second skin. And NARS released its Powermatte Lipstick in the end half of last year for a smooth, pigmented matte after noticing a 10% spike in searches for “matte lipstick” year on year.
So, if you’re looking to mix up your makeup look natural matte is a beautiful way to go…
