MUMBAI: Pacer Navdeep Saini is likely to replace Mohammed Shami, while left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar will come in for Ravindra Jadeja for the upcoming two-Test series in Bangladesh, TOI has learnt.
According to sources, opener Abhimanyu Easwaran is set to be called in as Rohit Sharma’s replacement, if the Indian captain fails to recover from a finger injury he sustained during the second ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The first Test will kick off in Chattogram from December 14.
Pacer Umran Malik had replaced Shami in the threematch ODI series after the latter was ruled out due to a shoulder injury. Currently with the India A side in Bangladesh, Saini, who last played a Test for India against Australia at Brisbane in January 2021, took four wickets (3-21 & 1-52) in the first four-day game.
Saurabh Kumar, who too is a member of that touring party, took nine wickets (4-23 & 5-63) in the first game, which was a drawn affair.
