LeBron James is back, and at just the right time.
The star forward returned on Sunday against the Chicago Bulls after a long absence with a foot injury.
James is now back to help the Los Angeles Lakers make a push for a playoff spot in the crowded Western Conference. The Lakers are in ninth place with a 37-28 record behind the Golden State Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans.
Fox Sports One analyst Ric Bucher said he thinks James’ return will only hurt the Lakers, a surprising statement.
“He certainly hurt them on Sunday,” Bucher said. “What made the Lakers successful while he was out was how they played with desperation and like underdogs. And defensively, everyone got after it because they didn’t know how much they could score.
“As a result, they played with a top-five pace. When he (James) came back on Sunday, they fell to the bottom. And if they continue that, it would be the slowest pace in the league.”
