On Wednesday morning, Milwaukee Bucks fans received some unfortunate news about star player Giannis Antetokounmpo.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania via Bleacher Report, Giannis recently underwent a “cleanup procedure” on his knee. As a result, he is “uncertain” to play in the FIBA World Cup next month.

Naturally fans are concerned with what the offseason surgery means for Giannis moving forward.

“Giannis has history of soreness in both knees but the left knee is the one he almost wrecked vs Atlanta two years ago. First time Giannis has had any type of surgical procedure (knee or otherwise). Hopefully helps him manage soreness in knee better thru season,” one fan said.

“Why does the term ‘cleanup procedure’ make me feel sick to my stomach?” questioned another.

“I was worried when the report about knee issues came out previously. From a Bucks perspective, it’s best if he sits out the World Cup and gears up for the season,” added another Bucks fan.

The two-time NBA MVP put together one of his best statistical seasons in 2022-23, averaging a career-high 31.1 points per game.
