NBA fans have been amazed at the sheer size of No. 1 overall draft pick Victor Wembanyama. At 7’5″, the French sensation seems to tower over everyone he meets.

That includes ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, who met Wembanyama at the NBA Draft on Thursday.

In a recent episode of his podcast, Smith went into detail about the meeting – and how he felt when he stood next to the San Antonio Spurs’ new franchise player.

“The kid is 7’5″, I stood next to him…my hairline receded about three feet because I was looking up,” Smith said. “I’ve never stood next to a person that tall in my damn life. If Yao Ming was taller than that, I didn’t notice.”

NBA fans couldn’t believe Smith’s comments, and many of them reacted on social media.

“To be fair, it doesn’t take much to make your hairline disappear,” one fan said.

“SAS it’s been gone my guy,” another fan said about Smith’s hairline.

“What hairline,” said one fan.

Jokes about his hairline aside, Smith is unlikely to be the last person to feel like Wembanyama towers over him. At 7’5″, he’s one of the tallest players in NBA history, and at only 19 years old he could grow even taller in the next few years.
