Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley often bicker on Inside The NBA, but their TV squabbles don’t create any bad blood.
On Sunday, the TNT duo appeared on NBA TV before the Miami Heat evened the NBA Finals with a Game 2 win over the Denver Nuggets. O’Neal received an alley-oop to mock Barkley when asked to confirm that his co-host would make a bad coach, but Shaq instead delivered a touching response.
The former Los Angeles Lakers legend said Barkley would make “a hell of a coach,” praising his basketball acumen and detailing their close relationship.
“He’s like the big brother I’ve never had,” Shaq said of Barkley. “I love him. I respect him. We fight. We argue. … It’s part of love.”
Fans appreciated O’Neal putting the playful banter aside to show his appreciation for Barkley.

During his touching speech, O’Neal revealed this his mother is close friends with Barkley’s mom. That’s added to their familial bond.
It’s a sweet moment O’Neal and Barkley will hopefully remember the next time they’re passionately arguing about basketball on TNT’s studio show.
