The Los Angeles Lakers advanced to the Western Conference Finals but were swept by the Denver Nuggets, the 2023 NBA champions.
After the series loss, LeBron James made headlines for hinting at retirement after his 20th NBA season, shifting attention away from the Nuggets’ series victory.
Nuggets head Mike Malone didn’t like that, poking fun at James’ retirement talk during their championship parade. That reportedly bothered the three-time NBA champion, and it will stay on his mind next season.
“LeBron is reportedly “pissed” at Michael Malone and will use next season as motivation.”
NBA fans reacted to the report on social media with different opinions.
Nothing against LeBron but his “stacked” lakers couldn’t beat PHX in the first round and didn’t even make it to the play in tournament last year. If anything that should’ve been his motivation. https://t.co/m7lYbPABCb

James impressed against the Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals, averaging 27.8 points, 10.0 assists, and 9.5 rebounds on 52 percent shooting from the field and 27 percent from long distance.
It will be fun to watch when the Lakers and Nuggets match up next season.
