Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum apologized to Jackson for delaying her concert in Atlanta on Thursday.
The State Farm Arena double booked an if-necessary Game Six of the first round series on the same night as Jackson’s Together Again tour. Jackson’s concert was postponed to Friday night, and Tatum reached out to the iconic pop star.
“I wanna send an apology to the legend Janet Jackson,” Tatum said in a postgame interview on Thursday. “We were supposed to close it out in Boston. She had to postpone her show. I hope she sees this, you know, I apologize for that. But we got it done today.”
The double-booking at State Farm Arena is understandable, as the Hawks floundered around the play-in all season. At times, it looked like they wouldn’t even qualify, opening the door for all sorts of events in their arena after the playoffs began.
Unfortunately, the Hawks would make it through the play-in and into a first round series with Boston, taking the defending Eastern Conference champions to six games.
With the Hawks now out of the playoffs, they’re free to host more concerts in their arena this summer.
