The sports world has been shaken by the news of star USC freshman Bronny James suffering cardiac arrest. The son of NBA superstar LeBron James collapsed during a practice and was taken the a local hospital.

James is now out of the ICU and in stable condition, but the news came as a shock to anyone who has followed his or his father’s careers. Many members of the NBA community sent prayers and well wishes to James following the incident.

“[Prayers] for Bronny,” said Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks.

“Prayers to Bronny man,” said New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson.

James was expected to make his debut for the USC Trojans basketball program later this year, but that could be in jeopardy following this unexpected medical incident.

Shareef O’Neal, the son of Shaquille O’Neal and a friend of Bronny James, encountered a similar issue during his freshman year of college.

O’Neal sat out his first year at UCLA after dealing with heart issues. He was diagnosed with a condition and would go on to have surgery as a result.

In a statement, the James family thanked the USC medical and athletic staff for their swift response to the situation, ensuring that Bronny received the care he needed after collapsing.
