Patty Miles is on the move again.

Two days ago, the Brooklyn Nets completed a trade to send the veteran guard to the Houston Rockets. The Oklahoma City Thunder absorbed his contract from Houston in exchange for draft compensation.

Hopefully Mills didn’t get too comfortable in Oklahoma City. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Thunder flipped him to the Atlanta Hawks for TyTy Washington, Usman Garuba, Rudy Gay, and a second-round pick.

Mills enjoyed prolonged stability when spending 10 seasons with the San Antonio Spurs. The former second-round pick delivered 9.4 points and 2.4 assists per game.

After playing 81 games for the Nets in 2021-22, Mills averaged 6.2 points in 40 games last season. He only saw the court in four of Brooklyn’s final 26 games.

Atlanta saved $4.5 million by moving two young bench players and Gay, who exercised a $6.5 million player option. However, it’s unclear whether the Hawks planned to keep Mills or continue his hectic offseason.

“They still have to decide on his future with [the] team this season,” Wojnarowski said of the Hawks and Mills. “His $6.8M expiring contract will continue to have value in deals.”
