Mark Jackson knows he screwed up with his NBA MVP votes.

Jackson, who calls NBA games for ESPN, did not have Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic in his top five for league MVP when the ballots came out on Thursday.

This caused a stir in the NBA community and it led to Jackson apologizing for snubbing Jokic from his ballot.

“Made an honest mistake with my MVP votes. My apologies to the Denver Nuggets and Nikola Jokic. He’s not only a legitimate MVP candidate who deserved my vote, but he is truly one of the all-time greats! Again my apologies,” Jackson tweeted.

The NBA community had all kinds of reactions to this apology.

“He was getting cooked so quick he already apologized,” one tweet read.

Jokic has been a freak of nature for the Nuggets this season. During the regular season, he averaged 24.5 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists per game, and that play has carried over into the playoffs.

Not having him on an MVP ballot is definitely cause for at least some criticism.
