The Los Angeles Lakers completed a drastic turnaround this season, going from a team with no chance to even make the playoffs to one that appeared in the Western Conference Finals.

After being swept by the Denver Nuggets, some have suggested that the Lakers try to go in a different direction from a personnel standpoint. D’Angelo Russell played well in the first and second rounds, but was nearly unplayable against Denver.

With an eye on taking the next step and getting back to the NBA Finals, new reports indicate that the Lakers have their eye on a prominent point guard.

According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, the Lakers have had “internal discussions” about possible trade proposals for Trae Young.

A trade for Young would be difficult for the Lakers, who don’t have a great deal of draft capital. The Lakers’ roster also skews in an older direction than what the Hawks may want in return.

“Lol, just what we need. A non-defending, heavy iso/usage player who would be attacked relentlessly by Ja/Steph/Jamal Murray,” said one fan.

Young has improved defensively in the short time that Quin Snyder has coached the Hawks, but he still appears to be far away from an elite defender.

“Let’s go get this man instead of kyrie,” one fan said, “We can keep more assets!”

The Lakers have been linked with a move for Kyrie Irving for several months now, and with things going poorly so far in Dallas, it could be a matter of time before Irving is on the move again.
