Nearly a dozen Denver museums will let in visitors for free on Saturday night

“Steal a Base, Steal a Taco” at Taco Bell

Batter up, hungry bargain hunters! Thanks to Atlanta Braves’ second baseman Ozzie Albies stealing second base in Game 1 of the World Series, Taco Bell’s “Steal A Base, Steal A Taco” offer was triggered. And that means America gets to crunch on one of the Mexican fast-food restaurant’s most popular menu items at no cost. On Nov. 4, make a run to Taco Bell and pick up a free Doritos Locos Taco. No purchase is necessary. Taco Bell Rewards members can access the complimentary taco early via the app.

The chain also offers its Happier Hour special every day from 2 to 5 p.m.: Get a regular Freeze or medium drink for just $1. Combine the two deals for home-run savings.

All Seasons Rent All’s semi-annual sale

With many holiday parties and family gatherings on the calendar, now’s the time to check your budget and start preparing your dining table. All Seasons Rent All’s semi-annual sale of used table linens runs Nov. 5-22. The sale includes tablecloths (ranging in size from standard to floor-length) for $10 to $20, as well as napkins for just $1. They also have white wedding chairs for $12, rolltop chaffing dishes for $80 and more for larger events. Also on sale are tools, garden equipment and other odds and ends. Even better, the shop currently has higher than usual inventory levels because of the pandemic’s impact on social events. The shop is located at 6550 S. Yosemite St. in Greenwood Village. Store hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.

Night at the Museums

Museums take on a whole different look at night. As part of Denver Arts Week, Night at the Museums sees nearly a dozen Denver museums open their doors to the public for free on Nov. 6 from 5 to 10 p.m. Each museum promises special entertainment and activities, including music, dance and storytelling. There’s even a free shuttle to whisk attendees between most museums. The following attractions are scheduled to participate, and may require advance registration and/or have capacity limitations: Children’s Museum of Denver; Clyfford Still Museum; Denver Art Museum; Denver Museum of Nature & Science; Dinosaur Ridge; Forney Museum of Transportation; Four Mile Historic Park; History Colorado Center; Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art; Molly Brown House Museum; and Wings Over The Rockies Air & Space Museum.

Ziggi’s Coffee

Cream and sugar, please. Locally owned Ziggi’s Coffee is celebrating the grand opening of its newest Colorado location at 1700 E. Exposition Drive in Aurora with free beverages for all. Customers can enjoy a free 16-ounce drink of their choice on Nov. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The café’s menu includes traditional and specialty coffee favorites to frozen blenders and fruit smoothies. The specialty coffee shop started in Longmont in 2004 and has since grown to more than 30 locations across the state. The grand opening giveaway is only available at the new Aurora shop.

Day of The Dead

Thornton will be alive with its Dia de los Muertos celebration with two family-friendly events. The Mexican holiday honors and remembers deceased relatives and loved ones. The reunion is often marked with food, drink and celebration. First, families can celebrate at the Dia de los Muertos celebration at McAllister Park (750 W. 96th Ave.) on Nov. 6 from noon to 5 p.m. The free event includes La Catrina costume contest, face painting, stilt walkers, dancers, musicians, food vendors and an art market. Families are encouraged to bring a picture of loved ones for the ofrenda (altar.) Next is a free double-feature film night on Nov. 13 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Active Adult Center (11181 Colorado Blvd.). The evening includes the films “The Book of Life” and “Macario.” Admission is free, but you need to reserve seats in advance. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Tattered anniversary

For many, the Tattered Cover Book Store is at the top of the must-see list for many Denver visitors. This year, the iconic store celebrates its 50th anniversary. On Nov. 10, all locations of the bookstore will hold a special ceremony at 6 p.m., including complimentary desserts and drinks. Plus, all day, customers who make any purchase will receive a limited-edition 50th anniversary bookmark, with a special discount valid from Nov. 15 to Dec. 31 on an entire order purchased in-store or online.

Great Clips

Veterans Day is about celebrating those citizens who are a cut above the rest. And Great Clips is cutting their grooming costs for the day. On Nov. 11, the hair salon is giving all veterans and active military members a complimentary haircut. Not in need of a haircut quite yet? Pick up a free haircut card valid from Nov. 12 to Dec. 10. You must present a proper military ID (active or veteran) for either the free cut or card. Civilians who purchase a service on Veterans Day will also receive a free haircut card to share with a veteran in their life. Expect a short wait or use the chain’s online check-in system for faster service. 

Phamaly Theatre Company

Phamaly’s Fall production series, Theatre as Sanctuary, features staged readings that examine the idea and definition of sanctuary. Each reading will take place at a different sanctuary within the Denver community and looks to engage a different population calling that place home. On Nov. 12 and 13, “And In This Corner … Cassius Clay” will be performed at the Phamaly Theatre Company offices (3532 Franklin St.) in Denver. On Nov. 20 and 21, “My Name is Asher Lev” will be performed at Temple Emmanuel (51 Grape St.) in Denver. Performances are at 7:30 p.m., with a 2 p.m. show on Nov. 21. Tickets are free and available online. However, a suggested donation of $20 is appreciated. Phamaly Theatre Company exclusively features actors with all nature of disabilities: physical, cognitive, intellectual, and emotional.

Winter Wonderlights

Loveland gets brighter this holiday season with its Winter Wonderlights. The walkable lighting attraction in the Chapungu Sculpture Park at Centerra is free and open to the public from Nov. 13 to Jan. 2, 2022. Each night lights up from 5 to 9 p.m. Visitors will revel in more than 80,000 holiday string lights, twinkling bulbs, LED snowflakes, illuminated African stone sculptures and the only 20-foot LED Christmas tree in the state. Each evening, there are continuous 30-minute music and light shows on the hour. If you’re in the holiday giving spirit, canned food donations will be accepted to support the Larimer County Food Bank.

Cherry Creek Holiday Market

Thanks to the Cherry Creek Holiday Market at Fillmore Plaza, you can enjoy holiday shopping without all of the hustle and bustle of malls or big-box retailers. A variety of local artisans will be selling their wares from Nov. 18 to Dec. 24. The outdoor marketplace will be filled with European chalet-style décor, twinkling lights and plenty of festive backdrops – perfect for holiday selfies. Enjoy live music from local bands, solo acts, choirs and carolers. Plus, holiday beverages will be available for sale to keep shoppers warm, including seasonal sips, hot chocolate, apple cider and coffee. The marketplace is open Sunday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Affordable Arts Festival

If you have an art lover on your holiday gift list and you’re on a budget, you’ll definitely want to shop the Affordable Arts Festival on Nov. 19 and 20, where all of the art is priced at $100 or less. You won’t have to fight frenzied holiday shoppers to see the wares because the festival is virtual. “Attendees” pay $12 to get access to the special website, starting Nov. 19 at 8 a.m. (Use promo code HOLIDAY to save $1.) Artists will be listed by category (2D, glass, jewelry, etc.). When you find one you like, you can purchase directly from the artist and arrange delivery. The sale runs through Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. Proceeds from the admission fee benefit the Arapahoe Community College Foundation.

Larson’s Ski Swap

Skiers and snowboarders will find all the gear they’ll need for the upcoming season at bargain prices. Larson’s Ski & Sport (4715 Kipling St.) in Wheat Ridge runs its popular ski and snowboard swap on Nov. 20 and 21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The swap includes skis, snowboards, boots, bindings, poles, snowshoes and outerwear. Ski resorts will also be on hand with deals on season passes and four-packs. If you have items you want to sell, bring them to the shop at any time starting Monday, Nov. 15. Employees can help determine a price for your items. Plus, they’ll handle all the necessary paperwork.

Regal Cinemas’ Value Days

Frugal film fanatics will want to make Tuesday their day to go to the movies at Regal Cinemas. The chain is offering a weekly “reel deal” at all locations. Regal Crown Club members get a discount at the box office, with ticket prices ranging from $5 to $6.50 (prices vary by location). The deal includes new releases. However, there is an upcharge for premium formats, including 3D, 4D, IMAX and RPX. Loyalty members enjoy 50 percent off any size popcorn every Tuesday with paid admission.
