An image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is going viral. The image shows the two leaders seated in front of a picture of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and conversing. This picture is claimed to have been taken in Germany and was shared by several Twitter users.

Fact-check

By a simple reverse image search, Alt News found that this picture of Prime Minister Modi and German Chancellor Scholz is from their meeting in Berlin on May 2, 2022, where they discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation under the overall strategic partnership, as well as regional and global developments, according to a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs. The image was tweeted from the official handle of the Prime Minister of India on the same date and it does not have the portrait of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in the background.

All of the major Indian media houses have used this original image.

Thus, it is quite evident that the image being circulated is a morphed. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was photoshopped into the background.
