OK, so we have a crucial update on that Netflix film of the season, Don’t Look Up, which stars the can-you-actually-believe-this-is-happening line-up of Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence and Ariana Grande.
It’s the apocalyptic sci-fi comedy film we’ve all been waiting for, even since the first teaser trailer dropped back in September.
After some merciless teasing from the streaming giant (as well as the shorter trailer this year, there has been a handful of first-look snaps), we now have the latest full-length trailer – clocking in at a somewhat more gratifying two minutes and 46 seconds – which gives us a bit more of an idea what to expect.
Trailer
The full-length trailer was released earlier this week – and it did not disappoint. The footage kicks off with Leo – unrecognisable after gaining weight to play astronomer Dr Randall Mindy – declaring, ‘This is not real, this isn’t happening…’. Which was kind of exactly our reaction when we heard about this stellar flick coming to Netflix, but we digress.
Anyway – moments later, enter Meryl Streep, who plays fictional US President Janie Orlean, in a tomato-red power suit and cat-eye glasses, our favourite on-screen look of hers since those iconic Mamma Mia dungarees. There’s also Jonah Hill, who plays Orlean’s chief of staff and son Jason Orlean looking suave in a tailored suit.
Like Leo, Jennifer Lawrence is also paying true commitment to her character with a micro-fringe and dyed red hair, playing fellow astronomer Katie Dibiasky.
And let’s not get so caught up in the excitement that we forget the Ariana Grande is involved in this project.
