When the Brooklyn Nets sent Kevin Durant to the Suns before this year’s NBA trade deadline, wing Mikal Bridges was the biggest piece of the return package they got from Phoenix.
The Nets are in a position where they need to build more for the future than look to win immediately, and the question now becomes do they want to do that with Bridges or would they rather trade him for a boatload of assets.
Heading into the offseason, Brooklyn is reportedly leaning toward the former option, according to Alex Schiffer of The Athletic. In a new article today, Schiffer pondered several hypothetical trade scenarios for the Nets, including one that would sent Bridges to Portland.
In his outline of the fake deal, Schiffer indicated that the Nets intend to keep the former Villanova star.
“League and team sources, who are not permitted to speak publicly about trades, have previously told The Athletic the Nets aren’t interested in trading Mikal Bridges,” Schiffer wrote.
Todays story is up. A look at the trade proposals you all submitted (ok not all but a few of them) last week and what to make of them. With insight from our other beat writers, too: https://t.co/xL5k7kRSTg

After arriving in Brooklyn, Bridges performed even better than expected, averaging 26.1 points and shooting 47.5% from the field in 27 regular season games.
He then averaged 23.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists across four playoff games.
Still under contract for three more seasons, it seems Bridges is viewed by the Brooklyn front office as a building block.
