A huge new £1million Peter Rabbit themed attraction is set to open its doors in Blackpool next month, complete with themed zones, games and even an appearance from the famous bunny himself.

The new Peter Rabbit Explore and Play attraction will be the first standalone attraction based on Merlin Entertainment’s Peter Rabbit TV series, and it’s sure to offer up some fun days out.

It will feature five themed zones such as ‘Mr McGregor’s Garden’ and ‘Jeremy Fisher’s Sensory Pond’, with plenty of fun games for guests complete with a chance to earn badges – and there’s even a secret treehouse club.

Our sister site LancsLive reports that the attraction has now been confirmed to be opening in February 2022, after plans for the new complex were first submitted to Blackpool Council in November last year.

A blueprint of the attraction offers a sneak peek at just what families can expect, with various rooms themed to be like gardens and other burrow-esque spots. There is also a box labelled ‘costume change’ which suggests that fancy dress games could be on the cards, dedicated photo opp areas, and a designated ‘retail’ area suggesting families can pick up plenty of Peter Rabbit themed merchandise en route!

The new attraction will be located on Blackpool’s bustling promenade, just a short walk from the likes of the Blackpool Tower which offers unrivalled views of the sea and city, Blackpool Pleasure Beach with its thrilling rollercoasters and rides for all ages, and other popular attractions such as the SEA LIFE aquarium and, on sunny days, the beach itself!

Cllr Lynn Williams, Leader of Blackpool Council, said back in November: “This new attraction will be another fabulous addition to Blackpool’s growing portfolio of world-class attractions that are aimed at a family market.

“The creation of a standalone experience featuring one of the world’s best-known children’s characters will provide another compelling reason to visit what we believe is the UK’s ultimate family resort.”

In the meantime, there are plenty more Peter Rabbit themed days out if you’re after more fun things to do with the kids.

For example, Willows Activity Farm near St Albans has a dedicated Peter Rabbit adventure playground, while the World of Beatrix attraction in Bowness offers exhibition about Beatrix Potter’s life and story behind her tales, with fun adventures such as exploring Jemima Puddle-duck’s woodland glade, Mr Tod’s underground home and Mrs Tiggy-winkle’s kitchen, to name a few!

The National Trust also has a handy guide to Beatrix Potter locations well worth having on your radar.
