New Cristiano Ronaldo? Manchester United to hand iconic ‘Number 7’ jersey to this star
Cristiano Ronaldo

It’s been donned with distinguished status by a number of Manchester United greats, including George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, David Beckham, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Currently, however, there is nobody with possession of this coveted shirt, which has been unclaimed since Ronaldo’s second departure from the club seven months ago.

But there could be an end to that excavation next season. Academy starlet Alejandro Garnacho reportedly will be handed the iconic jersey that would acknowledge his meteoric rise.

Garnacho had a breakthrough season under Ten Hag in the last campaign. The Argentine prodigy scored and assisted six each in all competitions last season playing a bit-part role.

Now giving such an iconic jersey indicates that next season he will be handed a bigger role to play.

United fans got a big hint of Garnacho’s new allocated jersey with an indication. Manchester United’s new kit for the 2023-24 season is on sale now. Any fan can have the option to add the name and number of their favourite player to the back of the shirt.

However, Garnacho’s current jersey number ’49’ is not currently a pre-loaded option, indicating that he will be handed the fabled number next season. If it happens, Garnacho will be the first teenager to wear the No.7 shirt since Ronaldo in 2003.

Garnacho recently signed a long-term contract to 2028 committing his future to United. He also made his international debut for Argentina this month. He is currently on a vacation break.
