New Ghostwire Tokyo Update Adds Xbox Series S HFR Performance Mode Alongside Optimizations on PC and Consoles

A new Ghostwire Tokyo patch has been rolled out by Bethesda and Tango Gameworks, packing optimizations and performance improvements, especially on Xbox Series S.

According to the development team, this new patch for Ghostwire Tokyo Spider’s Thread further optimizes the game the PC and consoles and includes various bug fixes. In addition, this update expands the underground gallery, which now includes art from the Tango Gameworks Concept Artists, including seasonal artwork as well as concept art for the Spider’s Thread Update.

One of the most interesting new additions coming with this update, however, is the addition of an all-new HFR performance visual mode for the Xbox Series S. This new mode should provide players on Microsoft’s entry-level current-gen console with a “smoother” gameplay experience. This new mode can be enabled in the graphical settings menu of the game. The team also mentions overall performance improvements on consoles, most notably Xbox platforms.

As said, this update also comes with various bug fixes, including a fix for a progression issue in the “Fear of the Children” side mission. In addition, this patch addresses some stability issues and addresses concerns with conflicting keybinds on PC. For the full patch notes, visit the game’s official support page here.

Ghostwire Tokyo is available globally now for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. After launching on PS5 and PC last year, Tango Gameworks’ launched for Xbox last month. Here’s what we wrote about the action/adventure title in our launch review last year.

“Overall, Tango Gameworks crafted a universe that seems ripe for expansion with its seamless meld of modern setting and Japanese mythology”, Alessio Palumbo wrote in his review. “Even the Visitors themselves are excellently designed both narratively and visually. There are so many of them worth noting, from the overworked and impeccably dressed suits that turn into zealous Rain Walkers to the machete-wielding Rain Slashers born from deep workplace enmity, from the Paper Dolls (people who were forced to always have a smiling facade and are now pouring out all the negative energy they’ve accumulated inside) to the headless Students of Misery and Pain, dragged down by extreme anxiety and restlessness for their futures.”
