New In Nashville: The Joseph Hotel’s Four Walls Bar Makes Its Official Debut

Long renowned for its influence on the American music industry, Nashville has become one of the South’s hottest tourist destinations in recent years—and this storied Tennessee city has developed a seriously impressive food and drink scene in the wake of its growing popularity. While it’s best known for its hot chicken scene, Nashville is also home to a wealth of high-end cocktail bars for visitors to explore, with the polished Four Walls serving as the newest addition to the storied streets of Music City.

Equipped with a gorgeous marble bartop and deep red hues adorning its walls, this upscale cocktail bar is the newest venue to grace the halls of The Joseph hotel, opening its door tonight for the very first time. And while the overall property is home to lavish suites, hundreds of art installations, and a palatial spa housed on the 21st floor, this new drinking and dining space seeks to offer a particularly upscale collection of cocktails for guests to enjoy, with the Four Walls menu masterfully crafted by Beverage Consultant Kenneth Vanhooser, a longtime industry professional who’s spent time at venues ranging from New York’s Boulud Sud to Nashville’s Le Loup.

“When crafting our beverage program, we took inspiration from The Joseph’s Italian roots, curated art program, and the striking bar design of Four Walls,” says Vanhooser. “We feature a collection of Negronis in our “La Famiglia Negroni” section of the menu, in homage to the Italian classic and incorporate Italian ingredients, such as Yolan’s custom blend of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic, into artful cocktail presentations with intriguing textures.”

With its debut, Four Walls becomes one of several drinking and dining venues to grace the grounds of The Joseph, with Yolan serving as the hotel’s culinary crown jewel since 2020. A top venue for refined Italian dining, the restaurant offers flavorful dishes like fiori di zucca, risotto con funghi, and cotoletta alla Milanese, all crafted at the behest of James Beard Award-winning chef Tony Mantuano—and when it comes to decadent dining, Four Walls is no slouch either.

The venue is set to offer a collection of savory snacks ranging from cheddar farfalle crisps to Nashville hot corn nuts, with cocktails including the rye and vermouth-loaded Gentleman Jim and the aforementioned La Famiglia Negroni, a roster of nine distinct takes on the classic drink. Yet when it comes to playing favorites, Vanhooser is a big fan of the property’s signature cocktail: The Paisano, a harmonious blend that showcases the versatility of Italy’s favorite New World fruit.

“This signature cocktail captures the essence of Four Walls through a celebration of Italian ingredients, a striking appearance, and intriguing elements that reveal as enjoyed,” he says. “It is a riff on a dirty martini that highlights tomato instead of olive and an absolute delight. Paisano showcases our Yolan olive oil in three forms, as well as a green tomato rosette frozen into an ice cube with clarified green tomato water replacing the traditional dilution of ice and water with flavors of tomatoes and spice.”
