The late Virgil Abloh’s admiration for basketball, particularly the Chicago Bulls, is celebrated in an upcoming collaborative collection.
As detailed in a press release, the Off-White and Bulls partnership was brought about as a result of a conversation involving Don C, current Off-White CEO Andrea Grilli, and Abloh’s family. In short, the press release adds, the aim with the soon-to-launch collection was to craft pieces that celebrated “the deep connection between the luxury fashion brand and the team.”
The capsule is slated to launch on Feb. 2 via select Off-White stores and online, with a new logo (see below) featured across four limited-edition pieces. The four-piece capsule includes a t-shirt, a hoodie, and two varsity jacket designs.
“It’s about to go down!” Don C said when unveiling the logo on Thursday.
Stay tuned for a closer look at the full capsule in the coming days.
In October, Off-White reunited with Church’s for a limited capsule focused on the Brogue and Derby silhouettes. That same month, we were given a look at Abloh’s Masters of the Universe toy set with Mattel. Featured in the four-piece collaborative collection were monochromatic takes on He-Man, Skeletor, and more.
In a statement shared alongside images of the collection, Abloh’s Alaska Alaska studio noted the founder’s “deep interest’ in Masters of the Universe, adding that “aspects of his interest were rooted in nostalgia.”
Earlier in 2022, it was announced that a new award in honor of Abloh was being introduced by Harlem’s Fashion Row.
