Sheikh Jassim’s offer for United is significantly different, in the sense that he would like full control over the club and is offering to pay off all existing debts. The Qatari has also stressed that the total value of his bid does not include the money that he would like to invest into facilities at Old Trafford as part of a major revamp.
There have been no reports of a clear favourite among the Glazers, though Simon Jordan has urged United supporters to be accepting of Ratcliffe’s involvement of the current owners in his deal. He told talkSPORT: “Who do you think you’re going to tell how to buy something? Full sale or out? OK, stay with the Glazers then. Is that better for you? Jim Ratcliffe will come in, if that’s what he wants to do, and this suggestion that he hasn’t got deep enough pockets, don’t be so silly, of course he’s got deep enough pockets. Just because he doesn’t choose to spend a significant proportion of his well-earned fortune on a football club.”
