New Mexico vs. Boise State prediction and odds for Wednesday, February 22 (Can Lobos sweep?)

0

The Boise State Broncos are in the midst of a three-game winning streak, moving them to 21-6 on the season in an impressive Mountain West Conference.

The Broncos host the New Mexico Lobos on Wednesday night, and the Lobos are looking to sweep this season series after a two-point win back on Jan. 20.

The Lobos are 20-7 on the season, but they have been a little worse in Mountain West play, going .500 at 7-7. Still, they have actually won outright in both of their games as six-point underdogs this season.

Let’s dive into the odds and pick for this Mountain West game:

New Mexico vs. Boise State prediction and pick

These teams play every contrasting styles, with the Lobos ranking 17th in the country in points per game while the Broncos are a defensive-minded team, ranking 19th in opponent points per game and 32nd in opponent effective field goal percentage.

Despite that, the Lobos hung 81 points on the Broncos in their first meeting, and I wouldn’t be shocked if this offense is able to hang tough on Wednesday as well.

The Broncos were in a very similar spot this weekend against UNLV, but they won by just four points, failing to cover a 7.5-point spread. That dropped them to 4-7 ATS when play as six-point favorites or more this season.

I don’t think the Lobos will be able to pull off the upset (Boise State is 12-1 at home this season), but their elite offense should keep this close.

New Mexico is actually over .500 on the road in the 2022-23 campaign, and it ranks inside the top-50 in field goal percentage, effective field goal percentage and true shooting percentage.

That should be a strong enough attack to hang with the Broncos on Wednesday.
