Nissan is recalling more than 200,000 examples of its two pickup trucks, the Titan and Frontier, in the U.S.; according to Transport Canada, another 5,977 units are affected in this country as well. On certain pickups, the transmission parking pawl may fail to hold the vehicle in park, causing it to potentially roll away unexpectedly.

While there currently isn’t an available remedy, Nissan is asking owners to ensure the parking brake is used at all times, until a proper fix becomes available.

The NHTSA document states Nissan will be notifying owners by mail by November 1, 2022. When the corrective actions become available, another letter will be sent out that includes “a statement concerning reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy for a subject vehicle that was no longer under warranty at the time of a repair.”
You can also check online at Transport Canada, using your VIN, to see if your vehicle has been recalled. Transport Canada’s number for the Nissan recall is 2022-341, while the manufacturer’s recall number is R22A1.
