On Friday, Kyrie Irving requested a trade away from the Brooklyn Nets.
The superstar point guard wants a deal to get done before next week’s Thursday, Feb. 9 deadline, so teams will have to get to work on trade negotiations right away.
So far, three teams have reportedly emerged as interested suitors: the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and — most recently – the Phoenix Suns.
The Suns are an interesting addition to this list given the fact that they already have star point guard Chris Paul on their roster. That being said, a superstar talent like Kyrie could be just what the Phoenix franchise needs to put them over the top.
If Kyrie did make his way to Phoenix, the Suns would no doubt have one of the most intriguing backcourt duos in the league — assuming they don’t give up franchise centerpiece Devin Booker in the trade deal.
Kyrie will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
